Privacy

MTD Compass is designed to provide useful information and practical guidance while respecting your privacy.

Effective date: 7 April 2026

Who we are

MTD Compass is a Thomae Compass initiative focused on helping people understand and prepare for Making Tax Digital for Income Tax.

If you contact us through this site, any personal data you provide will be handled in line with this privacy notice.

What information we collect

The information collected depends on how you use the site.

Website browsing

If you browse the site without contacting us, limited technical information may be collected automatically, such as standard website usage data, to help keep the site running and understand general usage patterns.

Contact requests

If you choose to get in touch, we may collect the personal information you provide, such as your name, email address and any message you send.

Diagnostic tool

The interactive diagnostic tool is being developed. When available, it may allow users to complete an initial assessment on an anonymised basis. If you choose to request follow-up support, you may also be given the option to share your contact details and ask us to keep a copy of your answers to help respond to your enquiry.

How we use information

Information collected through the site may be used to:

  • respond to enquiries and requests for support
  • provide information about MTD coaching or related services you have asked about
  • improve the content, usability and usefulness of the site
  • operate and maintain the site securely

We do not sell personal data.

How diagnostic answers may be handled

The intention for the diagnostic tool is to allow users to explore their likely MTD position before deciding whether they want personalised support.

Where diagnostic answers are collected on an anonymised basis, they are intended to be stored separately from any personal contact details.

If you later choose to contact us for coaching or follow-up, you may be asked whether you would like us to retain a copy of your answers and use them to respond more effectively to your enquiry.

Any such step would be optional and would be explained clearly at the point of collection.

Sharing information

Personal information is not sold or shared for unrelated marketing purposes.

Information may be shared with service providers who help operate the site or related systems, where necessary, and subject to appropriate safeguards.

Data retention

Personal information will be kept only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including responding to enquiries and maintaining appropriate business records.

Anonymised or aggregated information may be kept for longer where it no longer identifies an individual.

Your choices

You can choose whether to contact us and, when the diagnostic tool becomes available, whether to provide personal details in connection with your results.

If you contact us and wish to ask about the personal information you have provided, please use the contact page.

Updates

This privacy notice may be updated from time to time as the site and services develop.
